"Our mural piece features and honors Tlaltecuhtli, the Mexica Earth Deity, the sacred force of the earth itself. We included her as a reminder that no politician, border, detention center, or corrupt system can decide who belongs on Mother Earth. We feed her ICE agents. We have always been here, longer than borders. We belong because we exist. Belonging is something we practice in comunidad. It means showing up for each other when our communities are under attack. It means refusing silence when families are being torn apart. It means understanding that immigrants are not outsiders but are our family, our neighbors, our coworkers, our community. The mural walls are made of primed and painted shop grade plywood. The painting surface is protected by acrylic varnish. The mural wall will need to be prepared for long term preservation, if the buyer is interested in displaying the walls in a setting that is exposed to the elements. Preparation, installation and delivery may be arranged for purchase from the MuralFest organizers upon transaction for the winning bid.
